URBOND Women’s Conference 2026 Portsmouth came together on Saturday 4 April for the URBOND Annual Women’s Conference, welcoming over 160 attendees from across the community. The event highlighted the strength, resilience and achievements of women in Portsmouth, creating a space for inspiration, connection and empowerment.
A diverse lineup of guest speakers, including Lucky Haque, Suzy Horton and Professor Nafisa Bedri, shared powerful insights of their experiences. The event also featured moving words from Joy Maddox in memory of Lara Kynvin, alongside poetry performances by URBOND Youth Ambassadors Fatima Ndow and Tasso Bakayoko Fofana and closed with a beautiful song from the amazing Ruth Akinmukomi.
The conference formed part of the city’s celebrations marking Portsmouth’s 100-year milestone promoting unity within the community. In honour of the city’s centenary attendees also took part in an Easter treasure hunt in collaboration with renowned street artist My Dog Sighs. One lucky participant even discovered a highly sought after My Dog Sighs coin a unique collector’s art piece.
The event successfully brought together voices, stories and talents, continuing URBOND’s mission to uplift and celebrate women across Portsmouth.
